Experienced Assistant Sewing Supervisor

Description:
Position Summary: Assist supervisor with coaching, and coordinating activities for employees engaged in sewing fabric/leather for upholstered furniture.
Position Responsibilities:
• Supports supervisor/manager in maintaining production flow.
• Observe workers performing duties to ensure quality standards are being met.
• Answers questions for sewers to ensure they understand company standards.
• Distributes sewing notes as received from PD department to each sewer.
• Reviews production schedules to determine work schedules for department. Anticipates problems and communicates to supervisor.
• Assists supervisor/manager with training of employees.
• Oversees department in supervisor's absence.
• Keeps up with inventory supplies and reorders when necessary; stocks shelves with supplies from cage.
• Ensures sewing machines are repaired and serviced as needed.
• Facilitates the flow of repairs.
• Supports supervisor in weekly safety/information meetings with department.
• Provides support in clean up, cushion cut downs, and moving off schedule through the plant.
• Maintains neat and orderly work station.
• Wears required safety glasses, works safely and reports unsafe conditions to Safety Manager.
• Performs other duties as required by Sewing Supervisor.
Requirements: Essential Skills and Experience:
• Must have at least one year experience in a leadership role.
• Must have 3 years sewing experience.
• Must be knowledgeable in sewing methods with ability to train new employees.
• Must be able to effectively communicate well with others.
• Must have strong organizational, communication, leadership skills.
• Basic computer skills required.
