Position Description:
This position leads CEHHS' Office of Research and External Funding 's (OREF) pre-award activities, which includes implementation of pre-award strategies, policies, and procedures relative to the submission of successful proposals. The Senior Research Administration Manager oversees 2-3 staff; provides expert oversight of proposal budgets and compliance with UT and funding agency requirements; coordinates with the Office of Research, Innovation & Economic Development (ORIED), Division of Research Administration (DRA); oversees data reporting and analysis; facilitates strategies for proposal success; supports strategic planning in the area of research and external funding; collaborates with incoming tenure-track faculty on start-up budgets; and provides training and support to CEHHS staff, faculty, and Department Heads. This position requires a comprehensive and detailed knowledge of University fiscal policies and federal regulations related to externally funded (sponsored) research and excellent working knowledge of a myriad of funding agency-specific guidelines relative to sponsored research.

Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree
· 5 years of experience directly related to sponsored research, preferably within a university environment or in a corporate setting with extensive experience with state and federal funding agencies, including experience interpreting and applying federal regulations relative to sponsored research.
· Experience with grant and contract policies of state, federal, private, and non-profit funding agencies.
· Supervisory or mentor/leadership experience.
· Strong managerial skills, supervisory skills, and demonstrated leadership skills.
· Superior critical analytical skills and keen attention to detail
· Outstanding problem-solving and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with issues at all levels
· Excellent negotiation skills
· Ability to maintain confidentiality
· Keen ability to extrapolate information across a broad base of programs
· Excellent communication and presentation skills
· Superior customer service, written and verbal skills
· Detailed knowledge and comprehension of pre-award sponsored programs administration
· Ability to multitask in a very fast-paced working environment
· In-depth knowledge and application of Uniform Guidance, Federal Regulations, FAR clauses that regulate and affect sponsored programs administration; the ability to apply federal regulations and organizational policies and procedures effectively
· Knowledge of electronic programs and processes from sponsoring agencies, such as Fastlane, grants.gov, e-commerce, NSPIRES, etc. As well, as computer proficiency with spreadsheet applications, work processing software, email, internet searches and database programs.
· Proven ability to manage competing priorities, manage several complex projects simultaneously, and meet time sensitive deadlines.
· Work experience and knowledge of university's SAP financial/HR system.
· Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams
