Post-Doctoral Research Assistant (Multiple Positions)
The Computational Mechanics Group, headed by Dr. Stephanie TerMaath, seeks a postdoctoral research assistant to contribute to computational modeling and fracture testing activities within the group. The initial appointment will be for one year, beginning in June 2023; this appointment is renewable depending on availability of funding and satisfactory progress. The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in computational mechanics, peridynamics, high performance computing, and mathematics. In addition to independent and original research, the candidate will contribute to projects that involve formulating a multi-scale approach linking peridynamics and finite elements to characterize the damage tolerance of complex bi-material systems and to formulate non-linear surrogate damage models.
Qualifications :
The candidate should have the following qualifications:
- A PhD in mechanical engineering, mathematics, or a closely related field.
- A record of scholarly activity such as publication of original, peer-reviewed research.
- Demonstrated experience with computational mechanics, peridynamics, and high performance computing.
- A willingness to participate in and contribute to the development of research proposals to various agencies.
- Enthusiasm to mentor first year undergraduate through PhD students from diverse backgrounds.
