Established in 1936, the Department of Nutrition is aligned with the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. We offer programs in Community Nutrition, Dietetics, and Biomedical Nutrition Sciences.

Our Nutrition Department is eagerly seeking an Administrative Associate, a crucial role that will assist the Department Head and Business Manager in overseeing the Graduate & Undergraduate programs, office operations, human resources, and data management responsibilities. This position is not just about administrative support, but about being an integral part of the Department of Nutrition, with primary responsibility for overseeing administrative duties concerning the Graduate & Undergraduate programs, including arrangement of student events. You will provide vital administrative support for the Department Head and Faculty, ensuring smooth office functions and support.

This position is not just about paperwork and numbers. It's about people. As an Administrative Associate, you will have the unique opportunity to interact with our esteemed faculty and talented students daily, contributing directly to their success and the vibrant academic environment of our department. This position will be responsible for maintaining graduate student applications in SLATE, issuing and maintaining graduate teaching assistant & graduate research assistant letters, notifying university offices of waivers, editing and maintaining the timetable for Nutrition classes, maintaining department electronic media, coordinating event space for department events, and maintaining the department head’s calendar


Qualifications :

Minimum/Required Qualifications

· Associate’s degree

Ability to communicate effectively including active listening skills plus the ability to work with a diverse group of faculty, staff, administrators and other stakeholders.

· Ability to prioritize and manage a high volume of complex projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.

· Ability to be detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to provide excellent customer service with a commitment to exceptional quality.

· Ability to think analytically, quantitatively, creatively, and strategically. Be an independent thinker with professional skepticism.

· Ability to be a team player who works well collectively and collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree

· Knowledge of University policy, procedure, software platform and Microsoft Office suite.

Salary: The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and other qualifications and is accomplished by a standard university benefits package Benefits (tennessee.edu). This is a regular, non-exempt, full-time market range 04, staff position Market Ranges - Pay (tennessee.edu)
