Appointment:
School of Education, full-time tenure-line Assistant or Associate Professor, Master of Education in Counseling Program; begins Fall 2024, with the option to begin in Summer 2024 if available.

Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities include teaching a range of graduate-level courses in a CACREP-accredited program, including integrated courses related to School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialty areas. The faculty member will collaborate with other faculty on ongoing program and curriculum development, including the anticipated development and launch of a hybrid online program that will parallel our existing fully in-person cohort model. Supervision responsibilities include observing and mentoring graduate candidates in local public schools and mental health agencies and providing group and/or triadic supervision as needed. Advising responsibilities include mentoring MEd candidates and meeting with prospective students. Other duties include participation in departmental and university governance, and continuation of professional development in the faculty member's area of expertise.

Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in counselor education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program OR doctoral degree in a related field with employment as full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013.
  • Licensed/certified or eligible to be licensed in Washington State as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LMHC [full licensure] strongly preferred); or certified or eligible to be certified as an ESA School Counselor.
  • Counseling experience in clinical mental health preferred.
  • Knowledge of equity and inclusion-informed theories and research, and an understanding of working with diverse populations.
  • Research interests or professional experience in evidence-based, culturally responsive interventions preferred.
  • CACREP accreditation expertise preferred.
  • Experience and/or training in online curriculum design and delivery is preferred.
  • Commitment to liberal arts education.
  • Exceptionally experienced candidates may be considered for appointment as Associate Professor.

Compensation and Benefits:
Rank: Assistant or Associate Professor, dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Faculty salaries at the University of Puget Sound are based on a common salary scale based on experience. Assistant Professor salaries begin at $71,492 annualized for an Assistant Professor with a terminal degree in their field in their first year of full-time postdoctoral teaching through $80,003 annualized based on experience. Associate Professor salaries begin at $87,969 for an Associate Professor in their first year of full-time postdoctoral teaching through $98,182 annualized based on experience.

About the MEd Program:
The Master of Education in Counseling program at the University of Puget Sound offers two CACREP-accredited specialty areas: School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. MEd candidates are placed in local public schools and mental health agencies for practicum and internship. Supervision is provided by core and affiliate faculty. MEd faculty collaborate closely on ongoing curriculum and program development to train reflective, collaborative, and social justice counselors. The MEd program intends to launch a hybrid online program that will parallel our existing fully in-person cohort model in the near future.
