Nanofabrication Process Specialist Post Doctoral Associate
Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (24003594)

Role description:

The University of Pittsburgh Nanofabrication and Characterization Facility (NFCF) and the Pittsburgh Quantum Institute (PQI) are seeking to hire a Nanofabrication Process Specialist to support its fabrication user facility. NFCF is an 8,000 sf shared user facility located. The NFCF cleanroom is a 3,000 sf, class 1000 and 100 cleanroom space, while the remaining 5,000 sf is occupied by characterization equipment, electron and optical microscopy, and spectroscopy equipment. The NFCF facility supports a wide spectrum of disciplines: optics, electronics, materials, MEMS, and physics researchers comprise the majority of the users. The 100+ user cleanroom serves PITT faculty, grad students, and researchers as well as a number of external companies, universities, and government institutions in the great Pittsburgh region. The NFCF cleanroom is continually updating, installing, and qualifying new fabrication tools and processes to stay at the cutting edge of wafer fabrication techniques.

Under limited direction from the NFCF Academic and Technical Director, the Nanofabrication Process Specialist is responsible for specifying, installing, qualifying, operating, developing processes, and providing training on nanofabrication equipment. The specialist will provide expert guidance to existing and prospective users on the materials and techniques best suited to meet their research needs. The specialist is expected to develop new processes that attract and serve both internal and external customers.

This position is a full-time postdoctoral associate position. Qualified applicants should submit their applications electronically to PINSEsearch@pitt.edu. The application should include the following materials in PDF form: a curriculum vitae, a 1-2 page description of work/research experience in a cleanroom environment (as well as nanoscale characterization), and three references. Review of applications will begin on June 1st and continue until the position is filled.
