Position Summary:

The Talent Acquisition/Recruitment Manager will administer and direct proactive strategies and services that foster organizational excellence for all talent acquisition processes surrounding recruitment and onboarding of employees at UNC Asheville.

The Manager is expected to focus on ensuring a successful and efficient recruitment life-cycle. This includes developing, implementing and evaluating programs for sourcing, recruiting, hiring and orienting talent. This position is instrumental in engaging potential candidates through social media, professional networking platforms, recruiting events, and strategic sourcing of applicants.

The Manager is a dedicated business partner and is expected to cultivate relationships in working with hiring managers and recruiters to develop recruitment plans based on departmental needs and serves as the point of contact for all aspects of the recruitment life cycle from requisition creation to on-boarding. This position will be the primary contact regarding recruitment systems, processes, and procedures. This includes working with managers regarding special advertising needs, job postings, recruitment timeline, screening and candidate selection, committee selection, interview process/questions, and final candidate selection.

The employee in this role creates, prepares and provides search committee training on UNC Asheville’s employment process, Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action, UNC System, and NC OSHR regulations and compliance for staff positions, monitors the diversity of the applicant pools and makes recommendations to the search chair for increased diversity.

In addition, this position manages and coordinates all staff onboarding procedures for the university, including facilitation of the onboarding program.

Supervises team members and manages the performance of individuals through ongoing coaching, feedback and development to motivate, engage and drive a high performing team.

This position offers a variety of responsibilities, and requires adaptability, organization, creativity, meeting time sensitive deadlines, professionalism, critical thinking, constant process improvement, strong communication skills as well as an eye for detail. The employee effectively manages large scope recruiting projects by developing solutions, working through implementation, and change management.

The Manager is responsible for updating policies and procedures to remain in compliance with federal and state law.

The employee in this position is required to exercise independent judgment, set goals, create deadlines, and identify and implement changes where needed. The employee will have a key role in other Office of Human Resources projects and initiatives as they align with the University’s strategic plan and mission.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of progressively responsible experience analyzing, interpreting, applying, communicating and promoting HR best practices in the context of organizational goals and objectives; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.

 

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources. Prior experience in a talent acquisition leadership role, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Prior experience working with applicant tracking systems, such as Cornerstone Recruitment or PeopleAdmin.
  • Prior experience with the Ellucian Banner system.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop training resources, teach and/or facilitate groups.
  • Experience with using social networks for recruitment.
  • Thorough understanding of recruiting methods and best practices, as well as applicable policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, high attention to detail, ability to prioritize work, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Highly professional demeanor along with the demonstrated ability to use discretion regularly in handling confidential matters.
  • Proficiency in standard office equipment and software (MS Office, Google, Adobe CS) and the ability to learn new and emerging software.
  • PHR or SPHR certification is a plus.
