Physical Requirements

This position requires regularly standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); intermittently lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Also involves some job-related travel (less than 10% of time); exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; and exposure to loud noises, temperature extremes, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, cuts/punctures, and blood-borne or airborne pathogens.

Shift

Tuesday – Sunday Second Shift (2:00pm – 10:00pm) (Shifts may vary based on departmental needs). This position is ON-SITE

Job Summary

The Medical Records Clerk will be responsible for a variety of Health Information Management department functions including scanning, occasionally issuing and registering medical record numbers; providing training for new staff members; attending training to maintain competency; recalling stored charts for appointments or ROI; processing of Patient Portal invites requests providing access to the portal for patients and families. This position ensures that scanning of record information is accomplished within the established time frames and certifications of Release of Information are processed in a timely manner.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The ideal candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel; experience and knowledge in using Outlook, SCM, SRM, HQPM, APM, AEHR & PICIS; have high attention to detail; excellent communication skills (both written & verbal); ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment; ability to be flexible and to learn new things quickly.

Preferred Education/Experience

HS Diploma with previous document scanning and electronic medical records experience in a hospital setting.
