Physical Requirements

The physical requirements of this position include: regularly lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to 50lbs; occasionally regularly lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects over 50lbs ; sitting for extended periods of time with intermittent repetitive motions (such as typing), occasionally standing and/or walking with objects between 10-25lbs; occasional exposure to loud noises, blood-borne/airborne pathogens, and/or extreme temperatures; and intermittent (10%-50%) job related travel.

Shift

Monday through Friday (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.); with occasional on-call, evening, weekend, and holidays per business needs.

Job Summary

The Clinical Quality Specialist Sr. is responsible for promoting a culture of safety and quality at UK HealthCare. This position servers as a leader for UK Healthcare teams through the facilitation of patient safety analysis and clinical documentation review with reporting of any findings as appropriate. This position will also analyze and identify trends from safety events; support educational programs in quality and patient safety; implement quality and safety initiatives as directed by nursing and medical leadership; promote ongoing improvement by sharing “lessons learned” to other units and departments; coordinate and collaborate with leadership and risk management to ensure organizational compliance with all regulations, standards, and policies related to quality and patient safety; prepare directives, guidelines, and information on various components of quality management and patient safety for dissemination throughout the enterprise; participate in orientation and the ongoing education and training of all UK Healthcare staff; and act as a representative of UK Healthcare in functions outside of UK.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The ideal candidate will operate effectively within a matrixed organization; have experience with quality and patient safety analysis; experience with coordinating quality and patient safety programs and initiatives; have the ability to collaborate with others toward Enterprise goals, taking into account divergent demands while managing scope and timelines; be well organized; have exceptional communication skills (written & verbal); enjoy working independently as well as closely with their co-workers in a supportive team environment; outstanding computer skills (to include Microsoft Office); above average customer service skills; active listening skills; and a thorough understanding of patient safety and clinical documentation for quality and patient safety.

Preferred Education/Experience

BSN degree with 6 years of experience and knowledge of quality patient safety preferred.
