Job Summary

The University of Kentucky, College of Dentistry is seeking applications for a full time Clinical Title Series in the Division of Periodontology, Department of Oral Health Practice. This is a full time, 12-month assignment period, Clinical Title Series, non-tenure track eligible position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Professor. This position represents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the periodontology education of young clinicians and academicians who represent the future of our specialty and profession. Responsibilities include didactic and clinical teaching in the pre-doctoral and post-doctoral educational programs, participation in research and other scholarly activity, treatment of patients in the intramural faculty practice, and service to the College, University, and profession. The individual must possess a DMD/ DDS degree from a CODA accredited institution or proof of graduation from a non- CODA accredited dental school and evidence that the degree makes the candidate eligible to practice dentistry in the jurisdiction from which the applicant graduated. The individual must also possess a certificate of advanced education/ training in Periodontology from an institution accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation ( CODA). In addition, the applicant must be board eligible or board certified from The American Board of Periodontology. Applicant must be eligible for an unrestricted or faculty-limited Kentucky dental license. The College of Dentistry is part of the Chandler Medical Center.

Responsibilities:

The faculty member reports directly to the Division Chief of Periodontics and serves as faculty
member of that division in the department of Oral Health Practice. The scope of the position
include:
1. Provide didactic and clinical instruction, supervision, and course directorship in the
predoctoral DMD and postdoctoral Periodontics programs
2. Participate in inter-disciplinary graduate level seminars
3. Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational
programs in the Division of Periodontics or in the College-at-large.
4. Engage in research/scholarship by participating in the ongoing research efforts of the
Division of Periodontics, and/or collaborating with other Divisions in the College of
Dentistry.
5. Demonstrate capability of contributing to and obtaining extramural funding for
research.
6. Present research results at national and international meetings and publish results in
peer-reviewed journals.
7. Advise and mentor pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students in their research projects.
8. Participate in continuing education courses and present in local or national meeting.
9. Provide high quality periodontal treatment for patients in the faculty practice.
10. Actively participate on division, departmental, college, and university committees.
11. Participate in activities to maintain a current knowledge of periodontics.
