The Department of Gender and Race Studies at the University of Alabama seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor, working with a specialization in the study of social geography and queer studies, to begin on August 16, 2024. The successful applicant should have demonstrated research knowledge in exploring how placemaking for the Black queer community occurs across gentrifying urban spaces. A successful applicant must have previous postdoctoral experience, and evidence of having experience within an interdisciplinary institutional environment.
The University of Alabama is a student-centered R1 research university. The successful candidate is expected to develop a strong research program and be committed to providing a strong education to undergraduate and graduate students. A Ph. D. in Gender Studies is preferred. Familiarity with alternative teaching formats is preferred.
