Job Purpose
The overall purpose of this position oversees functions of federal aid programs (with exception of loans), providing support and supervision to processing staff, as well as other functions such as community outreach, student orientation, and customer service team. Processes records as it relates to federal programs, such as awarding aid, FAFSA corrections, professional judgments and dependency overrides. Performs complex student services requiring the application of both federal/institutional policy knowledge. Acts as a subject matter expert on federal, state and institutional policies and procedures and consistently applies eligibility requirements to all students to ensure proper approval of funds. Assists administrative staff with development of policies and procedures as well as Banner set-up and testing for their prospective area.

Essential Functions
Oversees daily functions for federal programs: dataload (process of pulling in FAFSA data from federal government), FAFSA verification process, FAFSA corrections, professional judgments, dependency overrides, federal work study and Student Job Portal as well as the customer service team. Performs complex student services requiring the application of both federal/institutional policy knowledge. Provides support and supervision to four C & S Staff members. Processes FAFSA dataload and correction files to and from the federal government, monitors and resolves error / reject reports for dataload and correction files, awards aid according to federal guidelines and completes Banner set-up and testing. Community Outreach, High School Presentations, Represents Office of Financial Aid in SOAR programs and campus workshops/events. Oversees customer service and assists other administrative staff with updating of policies and procedures based on regulatory changes.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution with at least four years of related professional experience. Ability to make independent decisions. Effective oral, written, listening and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer at least two years of direct experience with financial aid services and customer service. Experience with basic accounting principles and record keeping. Ability to read, analyze and interpret federal/state regulations and institutional policies and procedures. Ability to interpret tax regulations according to yearly IRS Tax Publication guide. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Work Hours:

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience. Administrative Paygrade 45.
