JOB TITLE: Network Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

St. John's University has several strategic network initiatives and is looking for a network professional with experience in complex data and telecommunications systems, development of network architecture, and evaluation of technical solutions. Candidate must have domain expertise in networking design and implementation based on the principles of Core, Distribution and Access layers. Also, candidate should have hands-on technical experience with network protocols (BGP, EIGRP), network OS (iOS, Nexus), Layer 2/3 and wireless networks.

RESPONSIBILITES:
  • In depth knowledge to architect, design, implement and maintain wired and wireless networks, including best practices supporting hardware and security mechanisms.
  • Troubleshoot network issues, complete problem determination and recommend solutions.
  • Manage and configure routers, switches and wireless network devices (controllers, access points), as well as other network devices such as Infoblox and content filtering/packet shaping devices.
  • Assist with development of strategic vision for the infrastructure, specifically relating to network communications.
  • Collaborate with other infrastructure teams to implement solutions as part of the overall vision.
  • Work with policies and procedures relating to security, data integrity, change control, and documentation of server systems.
  • Ability to present solutions to management.
  • Communicate with members of the team and constituencies about project progress and any issues.


QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE:
  • Detailed understanding of data networks and protocols including, but not limited to, TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, QoS, and VoIP.
  • Experience with Cisco networks (Nexus platform), Packeteer, ASA Firewall, Infoblox, Web Content filtering solutions and Cisco wireless networks, including ISE and Prime.
  • Experience with network security and forensic analysis.
  • Experience integrating voice and data networks.
  • Experience deploying wireless networks in a hybrid environment.
  • Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage concurrent project initiatives.
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints and automate processes.
  • Successfully presents technical information.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors degree required; CCNA required; CCIE strongly preferred.
  • Five to seven years of previous network administration experience and hands on technical knowledge.
  • Proven analytical abilities including a genuine commitment to professional development and team building.


In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual/hourly salary range for this position is $110,000 - $115,000. St. John's University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

This position may be relocated to any of St. John's University's physical locations at any time.
