Job Summary:

Reporting to the Dean, the Director creates, manages, and leads co-curricular programs and student activities for undergraduate and graduate students in the Tobin College of Business at the Queens and Manhattan campuses. The Director will also focus on engaging the large community of commuter students, residential students, and students studying remotely.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead co-curricular and extra-curricular strategy development and implementation for the school's undergraduate and graduate programs at the Queens and Manhattan campuses.

  • Ensure supervision of student clubs in collaboration with faculty advisors and according to university policies and the integration of student clubs into undergraduate and graduate experience and distribute information about extracurricular programs to student groups and faculty and staff advisors.

  • Market and promote the Global Destination Courses (GDC) for Tobin (info sessions, orientations, study abroad fairs, etc.).

  • Cultivate and support relationships with the Office of International Education and assistant provost for global initiatives and GDCs.

  • Liaise with the Center for Student Success and the Dean of Students on issues around students in crisis.

  • Provide managerial oversight for undergraduate and graduate student events, including student recognition event, and yield orientation activities in collaboration with graduate and undergraduate offices.

  • Recruit and manage student ambassadors to help create and promote student activities.

  • Collaborate with Business Career Services, Alumni Relations, Advancement staff, and Tobin alumni on key events.

  • Collaborate with Marketing Communication across the most relevant internal and external mediums to reach current students and highlight student life to prospective students.

  • Maintain an electronic master calendar of events.

  • Engage in other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

This position works in a professional office environment with the ability to handle confidential matters. It requires using a desktop computer, photocopier, and fax machine.

Physical Demands:

While performing this job, the employee will be sitting and occasionally may be needed to stand at events; move about; sit; climb stairs; and communicate.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This position is full-time, Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. 3:00 p.m.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.

  • At least, 5 years of relevant experience.


Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree strongly preferred.


In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $75,000 - $81,000. St. John's University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

This position may be relocated to any of St. John's University's physical locations at any time.
