Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Expense Management.

Primary Job Duties: This position is responsible for the overall planning, organization, direction, and control of the Accounts Payable department and will manage all aspects of the Expenses/Payables side of Procurement Services, Procure to Pay function. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to; ensuring compliance and regulatory requirements are adhered to and up-to-date, creating and updating policy involving campus-related expense and payable transactions while aligning with the University System and State of Maryland policy. Auditing supplier invoices, employee expense accounts, and working fund activity and managing staff to ensure payments are processed timely, accurately, and in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations. This position also collaborates with Financial Aid FISAP reporting and facilitates 1099 annual reporting. Provides oversight and manages the University’s travel card account which includes approving or terminating employees' access to this program. Reconciles and audits bank accounts and federal student aid programs. Ensure compliance with all USM, State, and Federal guidelines to maintain successful audits in all areas related to this department.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5-7 years of full-cycle Accounts Payable experience; Supervisory experience. Proficient in using ERP systems. Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable processes, financial principles, and relevant regulations. Demonstrated ability to develop procedures and processes that meet strict compliance requirements.

This position will report to the current Director of Procurement Services/Procure to Pay. This employee has direct supervisory responsibility for three to four Accounting Clerk III positions.  

Must be detail-oriented and have excellent interpersonal, customer service, organization and planning, prioritization, problem-solving, follow-through, time management, and oral and written communication skills. Also, must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and work well under pressure, work independently, and in a team-oriented environment. 

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.  

Preferred Qualifications:  Accounting/Payables/Procurement experience in a higher education setting. Annual 1099 preparation; Workday Financials experience. Experience leading a team through change management. Demonstrated a history of developing and driving business process improvements. Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced working environment.

This is a full-time, exempt, State position with a full benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
