Assistant Teaching Professor, Labor and Global Worker Rights

The School of Labor and Employment Relations in the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State invites applications for a non-tenure-track faculty appointment that is anticipated to begin July 1, 2024. The appointment would be at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. This is a 48-week, term appointment with no expectation of renewal.

Applicants for this position will be expected to teach a course in the graduate degree program in Labor and Global Worker Rights (LGWR). They will also be responsible for directing the LGWR program, which includes among other duties: managing the admissions process and supporting incoming students, liaising with the Graduate Staff Assistant on program issues, course scheduling, conducting student orientations, planning assistantship work, providing academic advising and graduation checks, and resolving student and faculty issues.

The Assistant Teaching Professor will also act as the Penn State representative on the Global Labour University international steering committee, as well as supporting activities of Penn State's Center for Global Workers' Rights.

To be considered for the Assistant Teaching Professor rank, candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Human Resource Management (or related field) by the appointment date. Teaching experience is required.

In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.

The School of Labor and Employment Relations (LER) offers undergraduate degrees in Labor and Human Resources and in Organizational Leadership, as well as graduate degrees in Human Resources and Employment Relations and in Labor and Global Workers' Rights, in residence and online through Penn State's World Campus. This position will be located at the University Park Campus of Penn State. Teaching duties will be in residence. The successful candidate will also be expected to perform occasional service duties within the School of LER.
