Position Summary:
Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Grants Manager in the Office of Grants and Contracts.

The candidate would be expected to: hold meetings to explore faculty interests and identify potential funding sources, and work with faculty as a support for developing grant proposals, conceptualize projects, articulating project details, and monitoring the grant as it is completed and moves through approval processes. The Grants Manager will have the skills to assist faculty with crafting project budgets as required by funding sources. This individual will be nimble so that they work with faculty across disciplines and balance the completion of multiple grant proposals.

This is an in-person, on campus, non-remote position.

Must be able to utilize a variety of computer software programs in order to successfully complete assigned tasks, Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately

Required Years of Experience: 2

Other Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with externally sponsored projects, preferably in higher education.
  • Ability to interact well with various constituencies and to assist faculty across disciplines with crafting project budgets as required by funding sources.
  • Ability to provide support through the initial stages of identifying grant opportunities and the development of strong applications by balancing the completion of multiple grant proposals.
  • Strong research skills to identify potential public/private grant funding sources and collect the relevant evidence or information to craft competitive grant proposal submissions.
  • Familiarity with federal and foundation funding sources and the relevant search engines to match faculty interests with potential awards.
  • Current knowledge of federal regulations and policies for grants.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a deadline driven environment.
  • Excellence in writing skills and presentation of information.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree. Knowledge of and experience with various federal submission engines (such as grants.gov workspace, Fastlane, Assist, etc.).
  • Certified Research Administrator (CRA) credential.
