Nursing Instructor Full Time
The following position is available at McDowell Technical Community College. Salary is based upon the institutional salary plan. Nursing Instructor (Full Time, permanent).
Required: Current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in the state of North Carolina; MSN (or BSN currently enrolled in MSN program with a completion date on or before January 2021); two years of full-time employment as an RN in a clinical setting; simulation experience (preferred) or willingness to obtain this experience; competence in the areas of assigned responsibility and current knowledge of nursing practice for the registered nurse and the licensed practical nurse.

General responsibilities |
The Nursing instructor works directly with the PNE Program Director and assists the PNE Assistant Director with implementation of the curriculum including classroom, laboratory, simulation and clinical teaching. |
Specific responsibilities |
Primary responsibilities include simulation coordination/implementation, clinical, lab, and classroom instruction of students in a practical nursing program accredited by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Additional duties include course planning, development, and evaluation. Other duties include advising students, serving on committees, and participating in college activities such as professional development opportunities. Scheduling may include day, evening, or weekend hours. |
Qualifications |
Education must be commensurate with the standards as set by the North Carolina Board of Nursing through its regulatory responsibilities granted the Board in Section I, Article 9A, in Chapter 90 of the General Statutes of North Carolina, known as Nursing Practice Act. Each nursing faculty member shall hold a current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in the state of North Carolina. MSN required or BSN currently enrolled in MSN program with a completion date on or before January 2021. Two calendar years prior full time employment or the equivalent in clinical nursing practice as an RN. Simulation experience preferred or willingness to obtain will be required. Community college or post-secondary teaching experience preferred. Excellent oral written communication required. Proficiency with commonly used computer-software required. The faculty member must maintain competence in the areas of assigned responsibility; and have current knowledge of nursing practice for the registered nurse and the licensed practical nurse. |

McDowell Technical Community College in Marion, North Carolina, is situated in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and is located 32 miles east of Asheville near the intersection of Interstate 40 and NC Highway 226 South. Established in 1964, MTCC began as the Marion-McDowell Industrial Education Center near downtown Marion and operated as a satellite unit of Asheville-Buncombe Technical Institute until 1967. The college moved to its current 31-acre site in 1970 and was officially chartered in 1971 as McDowell Technical Institute. In 1979, the college's name was changed to McDowell Technical College and in 1988 to the current McDowell Technical Community College. Although the name has changed, the process of lifelong learning has remained as its primary focus.
