POSITION DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Development Manager will contribute to the fundraising efforts of JTB in order to meet and grow its $900K+ annual budget. The Development Manager will report to and support the Executive Director in revenue-generating initiatives for the organization, spearhead specific aspects of development including fundraising and events, and deepen and expand JTB's efforts to track and connect with our alumni. Additionally, they will identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective donors in expanding their financial support of JTB. This is a hybrid position based in Chicago.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Create a strategic approach for growth and expansion in our fundraising which includes major gifts, corporate donations and fundraising events;

* Identify and secure sponsorships and in-kind support for JTB;

* In partnership with the Executive Director, as well as the Development Committees on the Board and Associate Board, plan and execute annual fundraisers and pledge drives;

* Create the organization's Annual Plan and annual development materials, marketing materials, and acknowledgment letters;

* Accompany the Executive Director or Board Members to funding pitches for donors;

* Manage and support the JTB Associate Board;

* Complete other duties as the Executive Director indicates to assist the other directors, employees or board members in the completion of their responsibilities; and

* Work subject to the direction and supervision of the Executive Director and Board of Directors of JTB, who may modify duties or assign such other duties and responsibilities as necessary and conducive to the best interests of JTB.


IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • BA required, MBA, CFRE and/or professional affiliations highly desirable;
  • Minimum of five years' experience in non-profit fundraising and development preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to continuously meet and exceed fundraising/sales targets or goals;
  • Superb organizational, project management, time management and communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on JTB's success;
  • Critical thinker with problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects independently;
  • Proficient in MS Office and Salesforce are required;
  • Additional experience with Donorbox, Stripe, Benevity, GiveSmart and Social Media engagement desired;
  • Some travel required.
