Payroll/HR Generalist
Join the winning team at Innovative Ag Services! IAS is adding a Payroll/HR Generalist at our Monticello, IA Location.
Innovative Ag Services is a full-service farm cooperative offering a complete line of supplies and services to meet all of your farm needs. We provide value-added products and services to over 5,000 members in the grain, agronomy, feed, energy, and building supply markets. Our 30 locations are located throughout northeast and central Iowa and southwest Wisconsin. IAS ranks as one of the Top Agricultural Cooperatives in Iowa.
Primary Objective: In an effort to achieve the goals set forth in the company mission statement, the objective will be to work in the following areas to drive overall HR initiatives. This position will serve in many roles to achieve the long-term succession planning that will call for this person to move into the primary payroll position within 5 years.
Strong organizational skills, enjoys working with data, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively are required.
Areas of Accountability:
Payroll Administration
- Serves in Secondary payroll processing position: Payroll & Timekeeping administration – entry of all employee changes, report writing, and timekeeping adjustments as needed to process bi-weekly payroll
- Ability to serve in primary payroll processing position as needed
- I9 Administration
- Backup on general ledger payroll responsibilities (payroll, benefits, administrative and reconciliation of 941’s, and GL to ADP reconciliation) as needed in primary payroll processors absence
- Advanced reporting as needed for position responsibilities, and leadership requests
Recruitment
- Recruiting – Drive recruitment of hourly FT, and Seasonal employees, and FT salaried employees for IAS West geography with backup support to/from East region as needed. Support HR team in building relationships with educational and community sources to build applicant pool for short and long-term sourcing for future employees. Attend Job Fairs, Networking events etc. to build branding of IAS as an employer
- Applicant Tracking System expert with ability to train others on use of product
- Partner with and support HR Generalist (East) to drive Social Media initiatives (Facebook, Linked In etc.) including generation of marketing pieces
- Work with recruitment background hiring platform on a routine basis
- Onboarding platform expert with ability to train others on use of product
- Support and help managing all recruitment advertisement expense tracking and reporting
- Backup support for internship program
Benefits/Safety Administration
- Management of workers compensation claims for IAS West geography
- Administration of learning platform for safety related courses, with ability to train others on use of product
- Benefits Administration and understanding of all IAS benefits
- Administration of FMLA as needed for IAS West geography
- Administration of Short Term/Long Term Disability as needed for IAS West geography
Other HR Team Duties
- HR Coach – application of handbook policies to help coach and aid supervisors in employee documentation
- Ability to work in all HRIS platforms
- Support company training initiatives as needed
- Write reports out of ADP system to support management
- Content management of electronic and paper files
- Other duties as assigned to support HR team and company initiatives
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Undergraduate degree in accounting, human resources, and/or equivalent of education and experience. Minimum 4 years’ experience.
- Self-Directed, with limited supervision, displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
- Ability to communicate information or ideas effectively in written or oral form, as well as by phone and online
- Ability to organize, deals with change effectively, and work on multiple tasks concurrently.
- Ability to successfully participate in recruitment PI Training Program & support company initiatives once trained
- Microsoft Office Suite programs. Advanced Excel required and ADP Workforce Now experience a plus.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Adaptability:
- Requires static strength to lift, push, pull, or, on occasion carry objects with a minimum weight of 50 pounds. Also flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. Some tasks involve repetitive motion.
