Development Manager

Organization Overview: Heroes and Horses is an innovative nonprofit based in the Gallatin Valley, Montana. Our mission is to un-program combat veterans by providing an alternative solution for defining and approaching their physical and mental scars. Rather than relying on prescription medications or traditional psychotherapy, we empower veterans to use tools that help them redefine their purpose, rediscover their inner strength, and maximize their potential. Our approach allows them to take ownership of their lives once again after leaving service.

Role Summary: As a Development Manager, you will be crucial to our organization's growth. The Development Manager must be a strong team player, as a part of a cohesive team that embraces vulnerability, learning, and teaching.

Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing donor relations, managing fundraising initiatives, and building a stronger development capability. You'll collaborate with current and prospective donors, ensuring effective communication and successful fundraising campaigns. This position involves managing individual and corporate gifts, as well as planned and annual giving campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fundraising Campaigns:

• Develop and execute fundraising campaigns aligned with our mission.

• Create compelling narratives that resonate with donors and inspire support.

• Monitor campaign progress and adjust strategies as needed.

• Manage Annual Events

2. Donor Relations:

• Cultivate relationships with current donors, expressing gratitude and keeping them informed.

• Identify and engage prospective donors, sharing our impact and vision.

• Maintain accurate donor records and communication history.

3. Development Capability:

• Strengthen our fundraising infrastructure and processes.

• Collaborate with the team to enhance donor stewardship and engagement.

• Explore innovative approaches to fundraising within the nonprofit space.

4. Messaging Strategy

• Marketing governance to ensure alignment with business objectives and minimize risks.

• Oversees the curation of connection with the audience through all media channels.

Qualifications:

• Nonprofit Experience: A strong background in nonprofit fundraising and development.
