7 am - 3 pm
3 pm - 11 pm
11 pm - 7 am

RNs/LPNs - Shift Differential Pay

$3.00 differential pay for the Evening Shift (3 p – 11 p) in addition to base rate of pay.
$4.00 differential pay for the Evening Shift (3 p – 11 p) in addition to base rate of pay.
$1.00 differential pay for the Day Shift (7a – 3p) Saturday and Sunday in addition to base rate of pay.

Position Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the oversight and delivery of quality Member care and customer service in accordance with established policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations. The Registered Nurse is responsible for overseeing and providing quality Member care, accountability, and safety of Members and staff.  Responsible for providing direct nursing care to Members and communicating with Member families and attending physicians, as well as, functioning as a Charge Nurse while on duty and supervising the day-to-day nursing activities performed by the Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). May be responsible for weekend supervision of nursing staff (RNs, LPNs and CNAs when working on a weekend. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for providing direct nursing care to Members under the immediate direction the Director of Clinical Services, or their designee, in accordance with established Member care plans, established nursing policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations. May also take direction from the Assistant Director of Nursing, Nursing Supervisor and/or the Director of Health Services. At times may receive functional supervision from a RN Supervisor working the shift.
  2. Responsible for providing services to Members in a timely, respectful, and friendly manner while protecting Member resident rights, dignity, and privacy. Maintains a positive work attitude and relationship with Members, visitors, family members and staff.
  3. Knowledge and application of medication administration techniques. Maintains the Standard of Practice for Medication Administration as set forth by nursing governing bodies. 
  4. Knowledge and ability to coach/lead Certified Nursing Assistants and monitors personnel on the floor  
  5. Directs the day-to-day functions of the Certified Nurse Aides (CNA), to include but not limited to, ensuring compliance with all current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern long term care facilities; ensuring work assignments are performed within acceptable nursing standards; making reports and recommendations concerning the activities of CNA, assigning CNA to specific Members, and ensuring CNA is aware of Member care plans.
  6. Assure that appropriate, informative and descriptive documentation in medical records is maintained to include, but not limited to, charting of all accident/incidents involving members and notifying physician, charting on admission, transfer and/or discharge, receiving and transcribing physician’s orders to Member medical records, accurately completing medications sheets and treatment/care plans, reporting all discrepancies noted concerning established member care to Director of  to ensure that the nurses' notes reflect that the care plan is being followed.
  7. Coordinates nursing services portion of MDS and Member Care Plans/Discharge Plans with other involved departments
  8. Ensures that narcotic records are accurate and immediately reports any discrepancies as per established policy and procedure.
  9. Administers professional nursing services as required to include, but not limited to, maintaining infection control protocols, obtaining sputum, urine and other lab tests as ordered, taking and recording vital signs, other nursing functions such as tube feeding, suctioning, wound care, colostomy care, range of motion exercises, and palliative care.
  10. Participates in the orientation of new member/family members to the Health Care Center. Continues to meet with Members/family members, as necessary. 
  11. Assists employees in solving day to day questions and problems as needed or requested. 
  12. Trains and/or orients new employees in all aspects of their positions to include, but not limited to, job description/essential functions of the job, minimum acceptable levels of performance, risks and prevention to infectious disease, proper and safe use of work tools and equipment, proper hand washing techniques, safety procedures, proper use of personal protective equipment, and universal precautions/blood borne pathogens program.
  13. Assists other employees in lifting and/or carrying unusually large or heavy objects each shift in a manner that complies with company safety procedures. 
  14. Effectively communicates with Members, families, and staff.
  15. Recognizes change in a Member’s condition, acts appropriately to these changes, facilitating needed care. Reports all changes per departmental procedures. 
  16. Set ups and passes medications, observing the 5 rights of medication administration. 
  17. Observes residents for drug effects/interactions. 
  18. Orders medications as needed, per pharmacy protocols. 
  19. Actively participates in mandatory meetings on the units and other training sessions as assigned. Attend and participate in continuing education programs designed to keep staff abreast of changes as well as to maintain licenses in a current and active status.
  20. Maintains confidentiality of members’ PHI (Protected Health Information) and medical records information as well.
  21. Other various duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Must be a graduate from a basic educational program in professional nursing (RN) and have an active license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.  Bachelors in Nursing preferred. Two (2) years proven experience as a Registered Nurse in skilled nursing, acute care or assisted living preferred
  2. Skill in understanding of computer software as it relates to the job. Experience with electronic medical records preferred. Ability to communicate effectively in writing in medical records
  3. Ability to work with geriatric members and with memory impaired individuals and groups. 
  4. Ability to work closely with professional and non-professional staff members
  5. Demonstrates effective supervisory, communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  6. Demonstrates skills and abilities in clinical and administrative areas including ability to work with limited supervision and to make decisions based on established policies and procedures
  7. This individual will need to be empathetic, energetic and have an affinity for working with a diverse senior population.
