Job Summary
Maintains and repairs all life safety equipment to support University Research on status. Implements and performs the Preventive Maintenance Program applicable to the life safety systems at all campuses. (MMC, BBC, and Engineering).

Job Summary
Maintains and repairs all life safety equipment to support University Research on status. Implements and performs the Preventive Maintenance Program applicable to the life safety systems at all campuses. (MMC, BBC, and Engineering).
- Performs a variety of operating and Life Safety/Utility System (LSUS) duties to ensure that the University LSUS equipment and system are monitored and maintained properly.
- Performs preventive maintenance (PM) service by inspecting and doing some minor repairs on fire alarms, fire sprinklers, fire backflow, air compressor, vacuum pumps, and domestic water pumps, and related equipment.
- Perform PM service by testing, inspecting, and doing minor repairs for emergency generators elevators, boilers, lift stations, hot water heaters and dock lift and related equipment.
- Responsible for working off shift after hours to perform shut downs and emergency repair of Life Safety and Utility System equipment systems at all campuses. (MMC, BBC and Engineering) Assists in calls from Public Safety or the University community regarding emergency conditions related to the equipment mentioned above. Provides access to University building equipment rooms to contractors for repairs.
- Conducts general cleaning of equipment and mechanical rooms.
- Operates a motor vehicle to transport materials and equipment needed to perform the job tasks required by this position.
- Completes preventive maintenance logs, records and reports. Assists the Life Safety/Utility Systems unit in ordering of parts as to maintain proper inventory of parts. Summons contract company repair person(s) if unable to repair or if temporary repairs will not last until next shift arrives.
- Performs essential duties during any emergencies, such as hurricanes, storms and/or any other University emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during University emergency closings with appropriate notification by department administrator.
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for mechanical trades or a high school diploma and two (2) years of appropriate experience.
- Valid Florida Driver's License CDL - Class E
- Certification as a Fire Alarm System Agent (FASA), Notifier certified and Florida Fire Protection certified (preferred).
