Job Summary
The Application Systems Analyst II/III positions are integral to the efficient functioning of university systems, focusing on seamless integration of software applications and platforms. While the level II position emphasizes streamlining data flow and optimizing processes through collaboration with technical and non-technical teams, the level III position elevates into strategic leadership, prioritizing customer success and user experience enhancement. Both roles are essential for supporting the university's mission by ensuring operational excellence and user satisfaction.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but not limited to:
  • Collaborates with campus stakeholders to identify integration needs and objectives.
  • Develops, maintains, and enhances integrations between diverse systems, including Student Information Systems, Learning Management Systems, and third-party applications.
  • Analyzes data requirements, design integration workflows, and implements data mappings to facilitate smooth data transfer.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves integration issues, ensuring minimal disruption to university operations.
  • Provides technical support and guidance to end-users, addressing integration-related inquiries and issues.
  • Collaborates in software evaluation and enters moderate to complex software configurations to meet user needs. Provides input into possible solutions.
  • Monitors the performance and stability of integrations, proactively identifying and addressing potential problems.
  • Develops new techniques and procedures to enhance university business application systems.
  • Documents integration processes, workflows, and configurations.
  • Reviews progress, evaluates results, recommends new processes, and promotes best practices.
  • Stays up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies related to integrations and propose improvements.

Application Systems Analyst II Required Qualifications:
  • This position requires either seven years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and three years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Professional work experience in systems analysis, with a focus on integrations.
  • Proficiency in integration platforms or ETL tools.
  • Knowledge of API web services.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or similar.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).


Application Systems Analyst III Required Qualifications:
  • This position requires either nine years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and five years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Professional work experience in systems analysis, with a focus on integrations.
  • Proficiency in integration platforms, API management, and ETL tools.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or similar.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of interface construction.
  • Knowledge of operating systems such as Windows, Unix, and Linux
  • General knowledge of programming and documentation procedures.
  • Knowledge of one or more appropriate computer languages.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, MS SQL.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively within a diverse community and willing to contribute to a team effort.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.
  • Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved.
  • Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate data and results in a concise format.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.
  • Ability to think critically, solve problems, and make clear, well-reasoned and timely decisions.
  • Ability to read code and program in a variety of languages that may include PL/SQL, Java, C++, and shell scripting languages.
  • Ability to utilize web technologies that may include HTML, XML, scripting, and style sheets.

  • Ability to work in a technical support role, and to convey technical information to technical and non-technical users.


Applicants will be evaluated for roles as either Application Systems Analyst II or Application Systems Analyst III based on their qualifications.
