EyePoint is searching for a Senior Accountant - General Accounting to join our growing Finance team. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant will assist with the financial statement close and reporting process on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. The Senior Accountant will take an active role with the Company's accounting and finance team and will interact with other functions throughout the organization.

We offer a hybrid work schedule. This position is located in Watertown, MA.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Individual responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly and annual close process, which includes the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and financial analysis
  • Review purchase orders, expense reports and invoices for compliance with internal controls and policies
  • Prepare and book expense accruals as necessary
  • Assist in the preparation of materials to support audit requirements/requests including interacting with auditors
  • Prepare requested analyses, reports and documentation to expedite an effective and efficient external audit process
  • Support the external financial reporting process and help prepare supporting documentation for certain financial tables and related note disclosures for the Company's SEC filings
  • Follow transactional accounting policies and controls in support of compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Collaborate with Financial Planning & Analysis organization to analyze and provide analytics to support commentary on the balance sheet and income statement
  • Assist in the development of internal reporting including standard financial and management reports to be utilized by functional managers and senior leadership
  • Assist in other accounting and financial activities or projects
  • Contribute to ongoing focus on best-practices and functional automation

Qualifications

Primary skills and knowledge required include, but are not limited to the following:

Minimum Requirements

  • Action oriented and self-starter
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control standards
  • Work closely with and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • 2 years of audit experience with accounting firms, Big 4 preferred
  • 2 years working directly within a corporate environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with a clinical stage biopharmaceutical firm
  • NetSuite and/or Forecast experience a plus

Other Requirements:

  • Biotech or pharma experience preferred

Level of Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree with a major/concentration in Accounting or a Master's in Accounting or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred

Number of Years of Experience in the Function and in the Industry:

  • Minimum 4-7 years of experience
