Elk Petroleum is an oil & gas operator in the Greater Aneth Oil Field, the 86th largest oil field in the U. S. by proven reserves as ranked by the US Energy Information Administration and one of the largest CO2 EOR projects in the U.S. Rocky Mountains. Elk is actively recruiting the following position in the Cortez, CO and Montezuma Creek UT area:
Facilities Engineer
This position provides surveillance and management of oil & gas facilities, plans, builds, optimizes and troubleshoots of all the facility aspects, optimizing various activities to assure producing properties operate at a maximum economic rate and comply with governmental and contractual requirements.
Qualified candidates must have a related Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (petroleum preferred) with 10 years Oil & Gas experience and a minimum 6 years experience providing technical facilities engineering support to oil & gas facilities in a comparable position. This position will report full-time at Elk’s Montezuma Creek, UT field area.
Knowledge and experience must include:
- Design of well-site and centralized production facilities with the goal of optimizing well productivity, reservoir performance and improving reliability, especially in corrosive and high CO2 environments
- Technical skills in facility design, P&ID’s, process safety, equipment/line sizing
- Technical skills in design and engineering of production facilities, pipeline systems, VRU’s, water transfer, compression, dehydration and other gas handling, and other oil/gas processing equipment.
- Design and construction of CO2 facilities is desired
- Experience providing estimates for AFE process and tracking actual facility/pipeline/compression costs
- Project management skills required
- Contracting and job site management to ensure projects are constructed in a safe, timely and cost efficient manner and in compliance with Company and industry standards
- Proven leadership in safe operating practices and ensures compliance with Safety & Regulatory requirements as well as ASME, API, DOT, and OSHA best practices, monitoring emissions to ensure compliance while maximizing production
This position must also meet the following work requirements:
- Ability to perform all duties in accordance with OSHA and company EHS compliance standards
- Work in all weather conditions and be able to move quickly, reach, squat, bend, climb and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Position requires driving; must have a valid driver’s license and pass a driving background check
