Rotating Equipment Engineer
Elk Petroleum is an oil & gas operator in the Greater Aneth Oil Field, the 86th largest oil field in the U. S. by proven reserves as ranked by the US Energy Information Administration and one of the largest CO2 EOR projects in the U.S. Rocky Mountains. Elk is actively recruiting the following position in the Cortez, CO and Montezuma Creek UT area: Rotating Equipment Engineer This position will maintain Elk’s rotating equipment (reciprocating compressors, screw compressors, motors, engines and pumps) and establish reliability, efficiency and best practices in company operated equipment and oversee the performance of all mechanical repair duties in various reinjection plants. This includes equipment ancillary to plant function, trouble shoot various automated controls/functions, instruments and measurement units and associate connecting piping and so forth. Qualified candidates must have a related Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (mechanical preferred) with 5 years Oil & Gas experience and a minimum 3 years experience providing technical rotating equipment engineering support to oil & gas facilities in a comparable position. This position will report full-time at Elk’s Montezuma Creek, UT field area.
Knowledge and experience must include: • Reciprocating Gas Compressors to include; Ariel, Worthington, Ingersoll Rand, etc. • Water Injection Pumps to include: piston type, multi-stage centrifugal, progressive cavity and gear operated • Instruments to include gas measurement, temperature controls, pressure regulation etc. • P&ID schematics and Process flow diagrams • Plant monitoring systems and tools including computer software: Microsoft Office Suite, Archestra and SCADA systems • Diagnostic tools such as Compressor Analyzers, Window viewer/Trend, Temperature and Vibration Analyzers etc. • Knowledge of and understanding of reliability centered maintenance practices • Knowledge of and understanding of good engineering practices and principles • Knowledge of design and operation of rotating equipment, ability to read and interpret pump curves, engineering drawings, blueprints and schematics • Knowledge of and understanding of predictive technologies such as vibration, infrared, thermography and ultrasonic • Knowledge of basic overhaul and repair practices on compressors (reciprocating, screw, etc.) pumps (horizontal, centrifugal, piston, progressive cavity, etc.)\ • Knowledge of API Rotating Equipment Codes
