Position Summary:
The AMTC Shop Floor Assistant aids the Business & Industry Instructor. The AMTC Shop Floor Assistant's main function is to help manufacturing students on the lab floor. When needed, the EA will also help attend the tool crib, answer questions pertaining to machinery operation, care, and shop safety. The EA will aid the Business & Industry instructors with the use of the following: manual machine operation, CNC, tooling, and measurement devices. The position is important to the safety of the students.

Example of Job Duties:
Under the direction of the AMTC Program Directo, the AMTC Shop Floor Assistant is responsible for helping manufacturing students on the lab floor through effective performance in these essential duties:

  • Assist students on manual machinery-lathes, milling, grinder.
  • Assist students on programming CNC machinery.
  • Assist students in safety and maintenance of equipment.
  • Attend tool crib as needed.

Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in an appropriately related field or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position's essential duties.

Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following:

  • Knowledge of use of measurement tools-micrometer, calipers, etc.
  • Knowledge of use of blueprint.

Salary:
$32.36 hourly.
