As a Customer Service Representative for the City of Salisbury, you can make a difference! The Customer Service Representative ensures customers receive excellent service and are assisted in an efficient and friendly manner. This position greets customers and provides answers to questions and concerns regarding utility accounts; processes accurate deposits and performs basic accounting for daily transactions; collects and reconciles accounts, both in person and over the phone; receives and responds to citizen inquires and complaints; and uses problem solving skills to find creative solutions to customer inquiries. The successful candidate will be able to multi-task, prioritize assignments, and adapt to a fast-paced work environment. Minimum Requirements:
• High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree in Business preferred
• Must have a valid NC Driver's License
• Computer literacy with the ability to operate standard office and computer equipment and specialized software
The ability to transact payments and give appropriate change with accuracy, manage and balance a cash drawer daily based on policy guidelines
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a positive, professional demeanor
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with diverse groups of people
The ability to interpret and explain city policies and programs, to diverse groups of people
Research and complete complex administrative work on customer account maintenance and billing
Effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills
The ability to self-direct and self-motivate while maintaining personal accountability
Strong time management skills

Preferred Skills:
2-5 years of increasing responsibility in Customer Service
Previous local government experience with Munis software
Bilingual skills are a plus (2.5% increase in pay upon passing bilingual test)
Closing Date: June 1, 2021
Pay range: $11.14 - $15.96 per hour
