CAA is currently accepting applications from experienced Building Inspectors and Senior Building Inspectors to join our team in Ventura County.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to conducting field inspections of residential, commercial and industrial construction projects including plumbing, mechanical and/or electrical installations, to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations. Issue notices to comply on violations; maintain records regarding inspection. Additionally, candidates must be experienced with reading plans and will be expected to assist at the counter.


The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide building inspection in structural building inspection and/or residential combination inspection with additional experience in any of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, mechanical installations and/or inspections.

Knowledge of:

California building codes.

* Codes and ordinances related to disabled and public access.

* Principles and techniques of building inspection.

* Knowledge of building construction, materials and methods.

* Experience in building construction for commercial and residential buildings.

* Pertinent state and local laws, codes and regulations.

Building Inspector:

  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years as a Residential or Commercial Inspector or commensurate experience
  • High School Diploma

Senior Building Inspector

  • Four (4) years journey level experience in one of the following: Construction trades or contractor experience
  • B.A. or B.S degree from an accredited college or university in a construction related field may be substituted for two years of the four year experience requirement.
  • Possession of the ICC Building Inspector certification issued as well as one additional ICC certification related to Building Inspection.
