High School Religion Teacher
Christian Brothers Academy is a private, Catholic, coeducational college preparatory school established in 1900 by the Brothers of the Christian Schools, a religious order founded by St. John Baptist de La Salle. The student body of 7th through 12th graders reside in Syracuse and over 30 different surrounding communities. The school enjoys a rich and distinguished tradition of academic, spiritual, athletic, and co-curricular excellence. The typical CBA graduate matriculates directly to a 4-year college.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in the content area of morality & social justice which guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. JOB DUTIES
- Develop and maintain the curriculum to meet developmental goals and instructional activities as identified by CBA and NYS.
- Prepare daily unit and lesson materials based on the curriculum put forth by CBA and NYS Next Generation Learning Standards.
- Manage the classroom in a way that provides a safe, thriving, and respectful learning environment for all students.
- Grade assignments and assessments in a timely manner.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of student work and progress.
- Maintain communication with parents/guardians and students regarding challenges, upcoming assignments, and major papers/projects.
- Measure progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements on a regular basis.
- Attend all CBA faculty meetings, trainings, in-services, retreats, conferences, Open House, Honors Night, and Graduation.
- Assist with other related and relevant tasks as identified and assigned by administrative staff and the director of guidance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Well-suited for the ministry of Catholic/Lasallian education.
- Master’s degree in education or related field (preferred); Two or more years experience preferred.
- Desire and ability to work collaboratively with the teachers, guidance counselors, administrators, and parents.
- Excellent organization, planning, and communication skills.
Pay: $50,120.00 - $62,550.00 per year
