DESCRIPTION:
Directs, supervises and serves as technical liaison for the execution of auditorium and conference events held at the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Essential and other responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
1.Provide on-site presence and support for all incoming events, to include lighting, sound, and other production related requirements related to the auditorium and conference center.
2.Supervise and facilitate the setup/changeover of the conference center.
3.Advise clients of the services available at the JEBCC.
4.Observe all OSHA, NFPA, and ADA requirements related to facility operations.
5.Coordinate/assess technical production and rental needs in the Auditorium.
6.Recruit, schedule, and oversee technical contractual staff for event operations.
7.Provide day-to-day operational management of technical staff.
8.Procure rental equipment and services for upcoming productions.
9.Evaluate and prepare budgetary reports for upcoming productions.
10.Open/close the Civic Center, ensure that facility is presentable for use and the premises are secure at the close of each event.
Marginal Functions:
1.Participates in professional development activities and required employee training.
2.Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Knowledge of:
The advanced principles of sound mixing, theatrical lighting, and electricity in a production environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
Basic TCP/IP networking skills.
Basic mathematical calculations.
Yamaha and Digico digital audio consoles, ETC lighting consoles.
Ability to:
Interpret and apply Federal, State and Local policies, laws and regulations.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Interpret, explain, and enforce departmental policies and procedures.
Follow all safety rules and regulations of the Civic Center.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Operate a variety of stationary mechanical equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Work independently in the absence of supervision.
Environmental Conditions:
The employee should have the ability to effectively handle a work environment and conditions which involve an office and theater environment; working at heights on scaffolding and ladders.
The employee must maintain the office and theatre environments by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards to provide a safe work environment.
Physical Conditions:. Physical and marginal functions require the ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following; standing, walking or sitting for prolonged periods of time, heavy lifting and carrying, climbing with both legs and arms, general manual dexterity, operating assigned equipment, and extended exposure to computer screens.
The employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, reading and writing, operating assigned equipment, communicating with others, and handling varied tasks simultaneously.
Additionally, the employee must maintain mental capacity, which permits making sound decisions and using good judgment, answering questions, demonstrating intellectual capabilities, working with numbers, and maintaining confidentiality where appropriate.
Scheduling:
This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week. Employee must maintain a flexible schedule, including working evenings and weekends, in order to best serve the needs of the clients. Availability for work on any Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute site (or arranged off-campus site) is required during peak periods.
Travel:
Local travel is required between campus locations. Out of state travel is limited, but may be required for conferences or training.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Experience:
Five years of increasingly responsible experience in technical theater in a non-contractual or volunteer basis. Two years of that experience in a supervisory position required.
Training:
High School diploma or GED with prior technical theater experience required. Prefer AA or BA in theater, electronics or technical theater.
