The volleyball head coach will lead the women's volleyball team by recruiting, coaching, conditioning, and evaluating team players in order to provide a meaningful athletic participation experience for student-athletes.

Essential and other responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
In Compliance with National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and institutional policies and practices, represent the institution by recruiting prospective student-athletes who understand the institution's values and emphasis upon education
Plan and conduct practices and related activities to prepare for competition
Implement coaching strategies and teaching methods to develop the skill level of student-athletes and the principles of teamwork
Analyze performance of team and adjust strategies as needed
Evaluate opponents and develop game strategies
Communicate with the student services personnel regarding students' academic performance and course planning
Report scores and statistics in a timely manner to all score reporting areas
Attend all practices, trips and scheduled competitions (including evenings and weekends) and travel with team
Maintain adequate records, statistics, scores, etc. of game results as well as student athletes' participation records and accomplishments
Update scheduled, games results, and stats on the NJCAA website
Manage equipment inventory and related duties as assigned by Director of Athletics
Drive college passenger bus/van (must hold or be able to qualify for the Commercial Driver License) to off-campus matches
Represent the college, the athletic department, and the community in a positive manner and reflect adherence to institutional values and expectations
Regularly communicate and maintain high expectations of how student-athletes are to represent the college both on and off the court
Assist with the administration of policies and procedures regarding academic and non-academic expectations and regulations for team members
Meet with athletes on performance issues, study skills, and techniques for academic success
Assist the athletic trainer/team physician to arrange physical examinations, address insurance claims, medical help for injured athletes, and respect decisions by the the trainer/team doctor to withhold athletes due to injury
Establish realistic responsibilities and reliable procedures for assistant coaches in conjunction with the Director of Athletics
Establish and maintain positive relationships with college and community members including students, employees parents and media
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested by the Director of Athletics
This position description covers the most essential functions and duties associated with this position. Other duties may be assigned by the President or appropriate supervisory personnel. The institution reserves the right to alter duties, responsibilities, conditions, working hours, and job title as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
NJCAA rules and regulations
Current volleyball rules and regulations as defined by International Volleyball Federation and USA Volleyball
High school and club teams in the region for recruiting purposes
To successfully recruit, train, coach, and evaluate athletes in the game of volleyball
Exhibit good interpersonal skills with professionalism and courtesy; work well with others
Maintain records accurately and meet deadlines consistently
Understand the organization and operation of the CCC&TI campus as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities
Interpret and apply administrative and departmental policies, procedures, laws and regulations
Work independently in the absence of supervision
Compile and maintain confidential records
Operate and use standard office equipment, including computer, email, etc.
Work cooperatively with other departments and outside agencies
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with those contacted in the course of work
The employee should have the ability to effectively handle a work environment and conditions which involve an office and classroom workspace, gymnasium and weight room workspace, working closely with others, and typically working irregular hours.
The employee must maintain the office and teaching environments by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards to provide a safe work environment.
Physical functions require the ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following; standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, or sitting for extended periods, moderate lifting up to 20+ pounds, and carrying, general manual dexterity, operating assigned equipment, and extended exposure to computer screens.
The employee must maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed to make observations, read and write, operate assigned equipment, communicate with others, and handle varied tasks simultaneously.
Additionally, the employee must maintain mental capacity, which permits making sound decisions and using good judgment, demonstrating intellectual capabilities, and evaluating programs and personnel's effectiveness.
This is a part-time position, with availability of contract hours and scheduling (day/evening/online) dependent on enrollment needs of each semester. Availability for nights and/or weekends, at any Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute site (or arranged off-campus site) is required.
Local travel between the Caldwell campus to off-campus sites will be needed. Overnight travel and out of state travel is limited, but may be required for games and recruitment.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
One to two years of coaching experience at the collegiate level, or two to three years coaching experience at the high school or similar level. Experience in scheduling and travel, budget development, management, and oversight is preferred.
Associate Degree from a regionally accredited institution required. Bachelor degree preferred.
Driver's license required, valid Commercial Driver's License, and CPR certification preferred. Applicants will be expected to earn the CPR and CDL certification if not held at the time of employment.
