The Assistant Director, Financial Aid will have a key role in analyzing, interpreting and aligning all federal, state and institutional aid programs with the institutions compliance and integrity objectives as well as all governing bodies of federal and state and institutional aid assistance. This position will assist the Director in providing strategic oversight, expert-level guidance and leadership related to processing, workflow development and quality and compliance reviews with all financial aid programs within a dynamic and changing environment.

Essential Functions:
1. Assisting the Director in developing, providing oversight and implementing program policies, procedures, and guidelines for all financial aid programs
2. Manage the Office of Financial Aid in the absence of the Director
3. Assist in the development and consistent administration and management of the following programs utilizing technology when required or applicable: Federal Work Study Program, Child Care Grant Program, Dream Scholars Program, Private Student Loan Program, Veteran Benefit Program, SAP Program, Scholarship Program, and Verification Program
4. Conduct evaluations on all financial aid programs regarding quality, effectiveness, and make recommendations for improvements
5. Maintain an expert working knowledge of all aspects of financial aid programs
6. Assisting in the daily import process of student FAFSA data
7. Managing changes in enrollment for aid recipient's to include processing return of funds, management and reconciliation functions of all financial aid programs
8. Conduct analysis and determine student eligibility for any program for which the student has applied using established verification processes
9. Provide advising to students regarding financial aid eligibility, application procedures, policies, costs, billing processes, awards, loans and indebtedness
10. Assure effective delivery and administration of all funding sources
11. Participating in outreach, advising and training opportunities with internal and external constituents
12. Coordinate college calendar and schedules as it relates to coverage for the Office of Financial Aid
13. Coordinate and participate in team-building activities and cross-training opportunities
14. Supervise student employees working within the Office of Financial Aid
15. Act as a liaison between various departments, offices, and outside agencies to resolve conflict, expedite processing and access information
16. Support and encourage institutional goals and objectives, policies, rules, regulations and activities
17. Successfully complete required annual staff development activities
Marginal Functions:
1. Serve on institutional committees as assigned
2. Serves on institutional committees as appointed.
3. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Working Conditions:
Knowledge of:
- Operational characteristics, services and activities of a campus financial aid program.
- Federal, state and institutional policies pertaining to awarding or disbursing of Title IV Financial Aid.
- The mission, goals and objectives of CCC&TI.
- Principles and procedures of record keeping.

- Operational characteristics of equipment and tools used in the area of work assigned.

Experience and Training:
Training:
Bachelor's degree required. (Recommended fields: Accounting, Business Administration, Management, Math, Social Sciences) One to three years of experience in college financial aid operations with a working knowledge of Federal and State financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures.
Experience:
Experience working in a higher education setting. Community college experience highly beneficial. Strong organizational skills required. Prior experience in Datatel Colleague or Financial Aid/EDE software programs preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, team-oriented approach, and ability to work in a congenial and professional manner with students, faculty, and staff. Excellent customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple functions or tasks effectively. Competence in computing skills, especially Word, Excel, and Power Point. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Must be able to balance, stoop, kneel, and reach with hands/arms and work using a personal computer.
