The Robert J. & Nancy D. Carney Institute for Brain Science is committed to supporting research and facilitating collaborations in brain science across the Brown University community and beyond. Responsibilities

The Manager for Faculty Affairs and Special Projects will manage faculty affairs processes for the Robert J. and Nancy D. Carney Institute for Brain Science and serve as a high-level project manager in support of the Institute Director's recruitment goals and special projects. They will also serve as the Executive Assistant to the Director.

This position will provide Faculty Affairs support for established, new and future Carney research faculty. The position will create and manage a formal process for recruiting, hiring, and retaining research faculty that uniquely contribute to the Carney Institute's mission. In addition, the Manager for Faculty Affairs and Special Projects will be the search manager for all Tenured/Tenure-Track faculty searches funded by the institute's endowed professorships. They will collaborate with the appropriate units (BioMed Faculty Affairs, Dean of the Faculty, Department Chairs, and others) to support Carney-funded faculty recruitments. The Manager for Faculty Affairs and Special Projects will support the Institute Director's work in negotiating and drafting hiring term sheets and MOUs with the different units involved in supporting faculty recruitment and retentions. This position will fill similar project management roles for high-priority special projects as directed by the Institute Director. Finally, they will serve as Executive Assistant to the Institute Director.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of administrative experience in an academic setting or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Executive assistance experience required.
  • Experience with faculty affairs processes preferred.
