ACLAM Mission: The American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine advances the humane care and responsible use of laboratory animals through certification of veterinary specialists, professional development, education, and research.

ACLAM Foundation Mission: The ACLAM Foundation seeks to expand knowledge supporting biomedical research and the health and welfare of research animals through the funding of research grants.

The Foundation Development Director serves at the pleasure of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) Officers and the Board of Directors (BOD) in a stipend position. The Development Officer leads the Foundation Development Committee members in fundraising activities and reporting of results to the ACLAM BOD, ACLAM membership and, as appropriate, the broader research community as indicated.

This individual will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward corporate and private foundations for funding support. This will include managing foundation programs and initiatives that align with the foundation's mission and values, including implementation of systems for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the foundation's fundraising programs and goals. These efforts will be focused with companies associated with our profession, in addition to individual donations from ACLAM Diplomates. Additionally, the Development Officer represents the foundation to stakeholders to communicate its mission, values, and accomplishments, and it is important that this individual maintains positive relationships with foundation stakeholders, including the board of directors, Diplomates, grantees, affiliated organizations, donors, and prospective donors.

Duties:

- Assess current and past fundraising strategies, activities, and opportunities,

- Work closely with the Executive Director, Secretary/Treasurer and Board of Directors Liaison to set annual fundraising goals and needs,

- Develop a multi-year year plan to meet those revenue needs with annual strategies, activities, goals, timelines, and support/ staff needs,

- leads short- and long-range development planning and executing strategies to create and implement fundraising objectives/goals,

- Set targets to expand the diversification the revenue sources,

- Write grant proposals and manage reporting requirements,

- Plan and execute fundraising events, including the annual ACLAM Forum.

- Collaborate with Development Committee members to create compelling fundraising material and campaigns,

- Attend regular Zoom meetings with Executive Director and present to Board of Directors during quarterly meetings,

-Performs other duties as assigned.

- Position is remote but needs to attend at least one live event- Annual ACLAM Forum. Multiday travel is required.


SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS REQUIRED:

* At least 3 years of development and fundraising experience

* Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

* High attention to detail

* Demonstrated organizational and presentation skills.

* Track record of excellent project management

* Effective communication and professional attitude

* Ability to connect with people from a variety of backgrounds.

* Passionate about the mission of ACLAM

* Ability to learn quickly and retain knowledge.

* Part time and remote work schedule (~20hrs/week).

* Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively.
